Everybody has a home which is designed by an architect. Sometimes in practice, the architect unconsciously designed a home without paying attention to the needs of elderly people in their design. In reality, elderly people in Indonesia still lives with their family. We need to find a right design criteria so we can create a proper design for elderly people. These criteria will succeed if we also pay attention to the function of the building. If those criteria are not applied to the right function then it would be hard for the design to become appealing to the elderly people. This elderly housing is not going to operate well without any additional function that is appealing to elderly people. Negative views of a nursing house need to be anticipated by applying a new building function. This building function will become a media that introduce a nursing house that meet and serve the needs of elderly people to public. With this research study, I hope that we will create good design criteria for elderly people and present them in a shape of a building design. This design will consists of several functions that will work together to improve the quality of elderly housing and the quality of life of elderly people in Indonesia today.
