Abstract
Chinese peranakan culture is the result of a unique cultural relationship between Chinese culture and local culture. At this time, Chinese peranakan culture continues to grow. This evolution is not accompanied by an information tool to keep the heritage of Chinese culture still exist, so that the current generation of Chinese people do not know the culture of origin and existence. Since lack of this information, we need a museum. In proposing a museum program, the fundamental question is what legacy will be displayed in Chinese peranakan Museum, and how to design a museum that serves to educate and preserve peranakan culture. To answer the formulation of the problem, the authors conducted a study of literature on the history of the peranakan culture. Through history there will be found any legacy that deserves to be displayed as well as a suitable location for Chinese peranakan Museum. The study of literature is guided by the Indonesian Chinese peranakan which was published by the Indonesian Cross Cultural Society and Nusa Jawa: silang budaya works of Denys Lombard. The author will also analyze the design of the museum is good through case studies. Through case studies, can be studied how culture shapes the informative display. In the proposed design Chinese peranakan Museum, the authors assume that the museum displays artifacts by type is the best proposal. The types of artifacts that will be displayed are ceramics, furniture and household items, paintings, musical instruments, clothing and jewelry, and relics of literature to be found in the library.
