This final thesis is based on the increasing use of air-transportation in Banjarmasin, a result of the economic growth in the area, which is parallel with the need of transport that could reach remote areas unreachable by land. Besides that, a huge development of infrastructure in the area would be a great attraction for visitors to come and invest in Banjarmasin, which will also increase the income of the area. A newly-designed terminal of the Syamsudin Noor Airport is hoped to be a good image for the region by showing the uniqueness of the fabricated-wood structure, because in this case, wood is the main commodity in Banjarmasin. Since wood have limitations in width and length, in the process there would be different choices of wood specifications and detailed joint types in relation with the culture of Banjarmasin within the airport. The usage of wood material on airport interior design represents local culture, when it is applied efficiently, would attract tourists who visit Banjarmasin. In this sense, it will not only boost local economy but also increase local people social welfare. A well-designed terminal would also facilitate transportation to Banjarmasin. Therefore, through this thesis, the writer would like to propose a use the wood prefabricated material in the Syamsudin Noor Airport as the image of the region.
