The presence of a public space is able to deliver a specific meaning to it occupants or users, including adolescent. This ability is due to the relationship and bonding between human and place. This relationship and bonding will eventually contribute to the development of place identity. This study intends to investigate what are the factors that have contributed to the development of place identity in public space especially at Tribeca Park, West Jakarta and Kodok Menteng Park, Central Jakarta and to understand how the physical environment as part of a public space is able to contribute to the development of place identity Two case studies, which are Tribeca Park, West Jakarta and Kodok Menteng Park, Central Jakarta, and adolescent community are selected for this study. Data collections will be conducted through observation and interviews. The observations were conducted to obtain physical data from both of case studies and interviews were conducted to obtain the information from adolescent communities about place identity. The result of this study demonstrate that are three factors that underlie the development of place identity in the public space that are factor of personal relationship, factor of physical environment and factor of action. At Tribeca Park, West Jakarta the factor have contributed to the development of place identity is dominated by Personal Relationships and at Kodok Menteng Park, Central Jakarta is dominated by the Physical Environment. Physical environment as part of a public space support by wide ground, flat ground, a unique feature and the availability of a relaxing place which is able to take a control of action.
