Abstract

Electrical energy crisis issue is a serious issue to be discussed about by different groups, from institutional to individual. The use of electrical energy increase continuously every year, forcing us as the user to become aware of and taking some actions in regard to this issue. Many sectors are contributing the excessive use of electricity, for example, the industrial commercial sector as well as the buildings; inside the building, architects and designers involved as a dominant role for contributing to electrical energy crisis issue. But many architects are not considering environmental aspects and electric energy savings in response to this issue. While the awareness toward environment, and electrical energy this is very crucial. With this awareness, action can be initiated by applying bioclimatic architecture principle. Bioclimatic architecture refers to the design of buildings and spaces (interior – exterior – outdoor) based on local climate, aimed at providing thermal and visual comfort, making use of solar energy and other environmental sources. These days, Jakarta is a capital that had always been a developed city and became the heart of Indonesian economic. Number of inhabitants, residence, and the increasing need of it makes Jakarta the biggest job fields in Indonesia. The impact of this development is the building of offices that can easily be seen in every corner of the city and the increase of office rent. The increasing fee for office renting affecting the minimization of building maintenance that include electricity cost in it. By applying the principle of bioclimatic architecture in office building, the electricity consumption number that used approximately 40-60% in air conditioning and 15% in artificial lighting can be compressed down to in total 20-30% through several steps. Therefore, the expectation to contribute in electricity optimization can be achieved.
