Abstract

The needs of thermal comfort at cities of Indonesia can be fulfilled with an effective shading system. But the use of shading system also influenced to decreases of natural lighting intensity that going through a building. The shading system works by decrease sun light that brings heat radiation to get in the building. By this way, the thermal inside the building is also cooler than a building without a shading system. The application of this shading system are supposed to be a solution to energy usage excessive inside the building to keep the thermal comfort. The research is started by searching for data and information about effective shading system, sun light direction to a building location, material, and natural lighting quality standard. Analysis precedent study is performed to a building with an effective shading system. Case study is performed to menara Dea 1, Mega Kuningan, Jakarta. In this case studi a field measurement, questionnaire, and simulation should be done. The field measurement purpose is to get the result of lux and dimension of room that need to be measured. After that simulation is performed without the shading system so we know the comparison result of with or without the existing shading system, this is needed to know how effective the existing shading system to accomodate natural lighting. The result as a criteria then will be tested to the second simulation. From the research that already done, the conclusion is the shading system that can accomodate natural lighting is the one that can fulfilled the standards and also functioned as a natural lighting system but still decrease sun heat radiation. The shading system as it function as natural lighting system should be able to distribute sun light into a room.
