Abstract

Characteristic of asphalt can impact the performance of asphalt mixture. Therefore, asphalt with a good quality will produce asphalt mixture with a good quality. There are several methods to increase the quality of asphalt, one of the method is improving the quality of asphalt by mixed with some of soft materials or usually called as filler. In this case, filler like Petrosin can be used. Research about Petrosin asphalt has been done for several time and the result is applied to flexible pavement in Europe. The improvement of asphalt quality mixed by petrosin can retard damages, such as cracking. The content of Petrosin that is used in this research ranged between 2% - 6% from the weight of asphalt mixture (1200 gram). The research explains the result of comparison of stability and Marshall Quotient from asphalt Retona TRB 55 before and after added by Petrosin. From the result, can be concluded that Petrosin increases the stability and Marshall Quotient of asphalt retona TRB 55. After the maximum condition af asphalt retona TRB 55 mixed by petrosin is obtained, the next step of the research is the cracking test for point load with certain CBR from soil (original soil and soil mixed by cement) to predict the model of cracking. Furthermore, the research is continued by calculating of the effective thickness, the maximum load that it can be resisted and the deflection on the flexible pavement at the layer of original soil and the layer of soil mixed by cement with certain load
