Abstract

The civil war that happen in Libya in early 2011 has brought change into Libya’s government. The use of force by gaddafi regime at that moment has trigger the anger of Libyan Rebel and bring a chaos into Libya itself, the civil war that happen in Libya is between Gaddafi regime and Libyan Rebel called National Transitional Council (NTC) who wished to do a coup d’état to Gaddafi regime. this war then broaden by the excessive use of force by Gaddafi army who killed the Libyan rebel warrior during the funeral ceremony in Benghazi. This conflict then cought attention from the international organization such as African Union, as the International organization that become the vessel of Libya and attract another International Organization such as United Nation and NATO because of the human rights violation that has been done by Gaddafi. The purpose of this thesis is to give a clear explanation for the role of international organization in Libya civil war conflict with specific concentration to African Union in their effort to do a diplomatic resolution for Libya case and for NATO that has done an humanitarian intervention to Libya when the conflict happened in 2011. this thesis is using a qualitative research method as data collection technique, and based on Realist point of view as its main theory. As a result from the research that has been conduct by the writer, it is proven that the role of African union in this conflict doesn’t bring an effective solution for the civil war itself, furthermore it is seems that African union has been tamed by NATO so that African union doesn’t intervere in NATO humanitarian intervenention during the time of the conflict. the humanitarian intervention that conduct by NATO is also some cover up done by the western power such as US to bring Gaddafi regime to an end. Gaddafi regime has set up a barrier for US and its ally to enter Libyas and another middle east countries because of it’s anti-western policy, and that is why Gaddafi is need to be removed from his Governmental position.
