Abstract

Entrepreneurship has been growing exponentially in the recent years, especially among the young adults who have just finished university or even when they are still studying in one. With it comes the interest of many people on how to be able to achieve success on entrepreneurship. Many studies have been done regarding the pathway to successful entrepreneurship, usually done by people who regard as successful entrepreneurs. But only few have dubbed into passion in a more detailed way as one of the driving forces of success. Hence this study aims to explore deeper into the nature of passion of the dualistic model of passion (DMP) system, which are obsessive and harmonious passion, in bringing entrepreneurs closer towards success with Indonesian entrepreneurs as a base. The path between obsessive and harmonious passion towards entrepreneurial success is mediated by sustained entrepreneurial commitment and resilience. The research has found that harmonious passion has a significant influence on entrepreneurial success whether it is direct or indirectly through resilience. On the other hand obsessive passion also indirectly affects entrepreneurial success when mediated by resilience, but goes the other way when mediated through sustained entrepreneurial commitment. And limitations and implications are presented through the survey methodology. Finally, both types of passion are found to be important to entrepreneurial success. In addition to existing literature, this study would also contribute to understand the entrepreneurial passions in Indonesian context.
