Abstract

The problem of having social skills and tolerance will have significant effects upon the future of students. From the frequent complaint from students, and according to the teacher’s observation, the students of Grade II not only have difficulty to inter-act positively but also have less ability to cooperate in group activities, to respect differences, and often forcing one’s will upon others. The purpose of this research is: (1) to know whether there is a positive development of social skills competences through the used of traditional game-playing; (2) to know whether there is a positive development of tolerances (among students) through the used of traditional game-playing. The research is a class activity research (CAR), conducted in 3 cycluses having 15 students of Grade 2 Tunas Muda School as its research’ subjects from academic year of 2017-2018. Datas had been collected through interviews, documentations, student’ reflections and observation notes. Based on this research, through the used of traditional gameplaying, there seemed to be a positive development of social skills competences and tolerance competences among students of Grade 2. Average value acquired by students for social skills competences, at cyclus 1 was 57, and improved to 75 at cyclus 3. The attitude of students’ tolerance at cyclus 1, which has average values of 55, improved to 75 at cyclus 3. As such, it is recommended that teachers and parents should encourage the students to actively participate in the traditional game-playing. / Permasalahan keterampilan sosial dan sikap toleransi mempunyai pengaruh besar terhadap masa depan siswa. Selain sering adanya pengaduan dari siswa, juga melalui pengamatan guru, siswa kelas II kurang mampu berinteraksi secara positif, kurang dapat bekerja sama dalam kegiatan kelompok, kurang dapat menghormati perbedaan, dan seringnya siswa memaksakan kehendak pada siswa lain. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk: (1) mengetahui ada tidaknya perkembangan kompetensi keterampilan sosial melalui bermain permainan tradisional, (2) mengetahui ada tidaknya perkembangan kompetensi sikap toleransi melalui bermain permainan tradisional. Penelitian ini merupakan Penelitian Tindakan Kelas (PTK) yang dilaksanakan dalam 3 siklus dengan subyek penelitian sejumlah 15 siswa kelas II Sekolah Dasar Tunas Muda tahun ajaran 2017-2018. Data dikumpulkan melalui teknik wawancara, dokumentasi, refleksi siswa, dan lembar observasi. Hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukkan adanya perkembangan kompetensi keterampilan sosial dan sikap toleransi pada siswa kelas II melalui permainan tradisional. Nilai rata-rata yang diperoleh siswa untuk kompetensi keterampilan sosial pada siklus 1 adalah 57 dan berkembang menjadi 75 pada siklus 3. Untuk sikap toleransi pada siklus 1 mempunyai rata-rata sebesar 55 dan berkembang menjadi 75 pada siklus 3. Saran yang dapat diberikan adalah guru dan para orang tua terus memperkenalkan anak-anak pada permainan tradisional karena banyaknya manfaat dari permainan-permainan tradisional.
