Abstract

Penelitian ini mengacu pada implementasi dari penerapan pendekatan eklektik yang merupakan penggabungan dari pendekatan natural dan pendekatan task-based dalam hal belajar membaca dan menulis yang dialami oleh seorang siswa disleksi visual yang berusia tujuh tahun dan empat bulan. Aplikasi pendekatan eklektik telah diterapkan siswa baik di sekolah dan di rumah untuk membangun komitmen atau pembiasaan yang baik dalam belajar dan juga untuk menambah stimulasi terhadap pengetahuan siswa dalam mempelajari Bahasa Inggris. Pengambilan data pada penelitian ini bertempat di Sekolah SPK di kawasan Tangerang, Rancangan ABA dipakai untuk mengamati perubahan yang terjadi selama proses intervensi yang dilakukan dari bulan April hingga bulan Agustus 2017. Instrumen yang dipakai dalam proses riset ini adalah wawancara, observasi, catatan lapangan, dan anekdotal. Dengan menggunakan proses data analisis secara kualitatif, peneliti mengobservasi perubahan positif yang terjadi dalam konteks kemampuan membaca dan menulis. Perubahan yang signifikan yang terjadi berkaitan dengan kemampuan membaca dan menulispun dipaparkan. / This study investigated the implementations of the eclectic approach which is defined as a mixture of the natural approach and task-based approach in teaching the reading and writing literacy skills toward a visual dyslexic student, who was at the age of seven years and four months old. The applications of the eclectic approach were completed both in the school and at home to build good commitments in learning and also to enrich the participant’s stimulations in the target language. The research took place in a SPK school in Tangerang, focussing on a single participant to observe. The ABA design was used to observe the changes happening within the treatments, which were conducted from April 2017 to August 2017. The instruments used were the interviews, observations, field notes and anecdotal records. Using the qualitative data analyses, the researcher observed the participant’s positive changes in terms of the reading and writing skills. Even significant changes regarding the reading and writing skills were also shown.
