Abstract
Reading skill is basic skill needed to support the success of study at school.
Initial study conducted at School XYZ revealed the severe lack of reading skill
among students of class 3B. This lack of reading skill will influence the lack of
reading self-efficacy, and reading motivation on students. This research aims to
analyse the increase of reading skill, reading self-efficacy and reading motivation
through the implementation of reading program. The method used in this research
is quantitative method with experimental design in the form of one group pre-testpost-test. Collection of data is conducted by questionnaires and written test which
is subsequently processed and analysed using descriptive statistic and inferential
statistic. Data analysis of the research indicates that (1) Implementation of reading
program increases reading skill of class 3B students (2) Implementation of
reading program does not increase reading self-efficacy of class 3B students (3)
Implementation of reading program does not increase reading motivation of class
3B students. If teachers want to implement this reading program in the future, the
recommendation based on this research are (1) story books used in the reading
program are selected to be inline with the ongoing study material (2) the
implementation of reading program must be conducted consistently within a
longer period of time.
motivasi membaca melalui penerapan program membaca.
