Abstract

Korean wave is a huge phenomenon that happens all around the world, including Indonesia. This phenomenon has spread various Korean products through K-drama, K-pop, K-show, and other K programs. One of Korean product that is shown by K-show is Running Man. This research is done to know how Korean cultural imperialism could be diffused through Running Man program, and also to know the Korean values which are spread by variety program like Running Man. This research was conducted using qualitative method with phenomenology approach. Data collection was done through in depth interview, with five informants who like Running Man and watch it every week. Based on the data analysis, there were four categories identified, which are dominating country, dominated country, role of mass media, also the impact of Running Man. The result of this research shows that all informants agree that Running Man tries to emphasize Korean values and that makes the viewers are influenced to imitate Running Man’s members.
