Abstract

This research aims to see what condition of the children’s vocabulary in English before applying a role playing, to see if any influence the application of role playing on improving aged 4-5 years children’s English vocabulary in TK Harapan Bangsa and to find the factors impeding the implementation does play a role. This research uses a method of quantitative research with pre-post test design in a non control group. The focus of this research is on six children in Kindergarten A, ages four and five years old. There are twelve meetings held for this research from mid-May through June. The instrument research consists of a questionnaire to parents in Vocabulary and class observation. Analysis of data obtained from the results of preand-post vocabulary tests, the results of the questionnaire from the child’s parents, and observation in the classroom during activities will be analyzed. From this research, the results obtained will show that the condition of children’s vocabulary in English is good enough especially in theme At home and In the Supermarket, there is a influence of the application of role playing increases the English vocabulary of the children in this age group. An increasing number of vocabulary words of the children is 31% for the lowest increasing and 47% for the higher increasing. Restricting factors of this activity is a lack of role play equipment and limitations of time to perform the role play activities effectively. / Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk melihat bagaimanakah kondisi kemampuan kosakata anak sebelum penerapan bermain peran, untuk melihat apakah adanya pengaruh penerapan bermain peran pada peningkatan kosakata bahasa Inggris anak usia 4-5 tahun di TK Harapan Bangsa serta melihat faktor-faktor apakah yang menghambat terjadinya penerapan bermain peran. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode penelitian kuantitatif dengan desain penelitian pre test-post test tanpa control group . Subyek penelitiannya adalah 6 anak siswa siswi kelas TK A berusia 4-5 tahun berjumlah 6 anak. Waktu penelitian adalah pada pertengahan bulan Mei sampai pertengahan bulan Juni, sebanyak 12 kali pertemuan. Adapun instrument penelitian yang dipakai adalah kuesioner untuk orang tua, lembar test kosa kata, dan lembar observasi kelas. Analisis data diperoleh dari hasil pre-test dan post-test kosakata anak, hasil kuesioner untuk orangtua dan observasi di kelas selama kegiatan berlangsung. Dari penelitian ini, diperoleh hasil yang menunjukkan bahwa kemampuan kosakata bahasa Inggris anak sebelum penerapan sudah baik terutama pada kosakata yang berhubungan dengan tema “At Home dan In the Supermarket”, ditemukan adanya pengaruh penerapan metode bermain peran pada peningkatan kosa kata Bahasa Inggris anak usia 4-5 tahun di TK Harapan Bangsa. Peningkatan jumlah kosakata pada anak adalah 31% pada kenaikan terendah dan 47% pada kenaikan tertinggi. Sedangkan faktor-faktor penghambat dari kegiatan ini adalah kurangnya peralatan bermain peran dan keterbatasan waktu kegiatan bermain peran ini.
