Abstract

Indonesia is a nation of great diversity, rich in terms of its variety of cultures, its ethnic groups, and its religions. In order to maintain the unity of such a country, where the population is this diverse and heterogeneous, it is essential that the values of pluralism be evident at every level of the country's community life. One specific way pluralist values can be disseminated is through film, a process on display in movie Sang Pencerah and Soegija movies. This research seeking to explore the meaning of pluralism is depicted by way of this film, and in doing so it utilizes an interpretive research paradigm and analytical method informed by a semiotic order of signification model set forth by Roland Barthes. The primary data collection by observing both films and then the scenes depicting the value of pluralism were grouped by component elements of film, mise en scene, and cinematography. Secondary data obtained from various research results and related journals. The result of this research identified three varieties of pluralism by way of this research, three types underscored in the Sang Pencerah and Soegija movies (1) concern, (2) openness, and (3) a willingness to change. / Indonesia merupakan negara majemuk dengan beragam kekayaan budaya, suku dan agama yang dimilikinya. Untuk terus menjaga kesatuan negara Indonesia dengan kondisi masyarakat yang majemuk atau beragam, maka nilai pluralisme mutlak untuk dimiliki di semua aspek kehidupan masayarakat Indonesia. Salah satu cara untuk menyebarkan nilai pluralisme adalah dengan melalui film, seperti film yang berjudul Sang Pencerah dan Soegija. Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk mengetahui makna pluralisme digambarkan melalui film Sang Pencerah dan Soegija dengan menggunakan paradigma penelitian interpratif dan metode analisis isi dengan model semiotika order of signification dari Roland Barthes. Pengumpulan data primer dilakukan dengan melakukan observasi (menonton) kedua film tersebut dan selanjutnya adegan-adegan yang menggambarkan nilai pluralisme dikelompokkan berdasarkan komponen unsurunsur film, mise en scene, dan cinematography. Data sekunder didapatkan dari berbagai hasil penelitian dan jurnal yang terkait. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa nilai pluralisme dalam kondisi kemajemukan bangsa direpresentasikan sebagai sikap kepedulian, keterbukaan, dan mudah beradaptasi melalui film Sang Pencerah & Soegija.
