Abstract

In the globalized world, information spread out rapidly through every part of the world by utilizing the advance technology which has great impact in the global community. Globalization often linked with the culture embedded in the message leads to the human civilization changes. A phenomena called ‘Korean Wave’ or Korean popular culture is a products of culture modification that combine value, ideology and belief of South Korea as a nation. ‘Korean Wave’ syndromes has influences many Indonesian audiences through their well-known dramas and films. Indonesian audiences have been hypnotized unconsciously by the contents of K-dramas and K-films. ‘Descendants of The Sun’ and ‘The Battleship Island’, which are films with the military genre, leads some controversial by hiding the true story and showing purposive message to persuade audiences perception of South Korea. This research purpose to determine how South Korea hegemonies audiences through films. This research uses qualitative-descriptive approach with the critical paradigm. Data collection for this research by combining in-depth interview as the primary data, literatures and other documents as the secondary data. From this research, the film’s accomplished to influence the audiences perception through their script, contents and setting that lead to false ideology transformation. The audiences have not realized that being hegemonies by South Korea through films. / Di dunia globalisasi, informasi tersebar dengan pesat keseluruh penjuru dunia dengan kecanggihan teknologi yang digunakan yang mana memberikan dampak besar terhadap komunitas global. Globalisasi sering kali dikaitkan dengan budaya yang mana tersisip didalam pesan yang mendorong terjadinya perubahan kehidupan masyarakat. Sebuah fenomena yang dikenal dengan ‘Gelombang Korea’ atau budaya populer Korea merupakan produk modifikasi budaya yang mana menggabungkan nilai, ideologi, dan kepercayaan Korea Selatan sebagai sebuah negara. Gejala-gejala ‘Gelombang Korea’ telah mempengaruhi penonton Indonesia melalui tayangan drama dan film yang cukup terkenal. Penonton Indonesia secara tidak sadar telah terhipnotis dengan konten-konten yang ditayangkan pada K-drama dan K-film. ‘Descendants of The Sun’ dan ‘The Battleship Island’, merupakan film Korea yang berlatar belakang militer, dimana kedua film ini memunculkan kontroversi dikarenakan menyembunyikan cerita yang sebenarnya dan adanya pesan yang bertujuan untuk mengubah persepsi penonton terhadap Korea Selatan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui bagaimana Korea Selatan menghegemoni penonton melalui film. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif deskriptif dimana paradigm yang digunakan adalah paradigm kritis. Pengumpulan data pada penelitian ini dengan cara menggabungkan teknik wawancara mendalam sebagai sumber data utama, sumber data tertulis maupun dokumen lainnya sebagai sumber data kedua. Dari penelitian ini, kedua film tersebut telah berhasil mempengaruhi persepsi penonton melalui skrip, konten, latar belakang film yang mendorong kepada transformasi ideologi palsu. Penonton belum menyadari bahwa mereka sedang terhegemoni oleh Korea Selatan melalui film-film.
