Abstract
Web 2.0 has been associated with social media sites, blog and file sharing
platforms. Web 2.0 enables individuals to communicate easily and freedom in
producing and obtaining information.
Blog is an online private journal of a person that can be accessed public.
Blog has developed with its new features where user can also upload a video
content or call Video blog (Vlog) with vlogger as an active user. Vlog is also
classified in terms of areas of users’ interest, such as beauty vlogger, a vlogger
that related to beauty content.
The beauty vlogger phenomenon in Indonesia has been overtaking society
with their existence that considered as a new source of information and currently
known as influencer.
This research conducted using qualitative approached and
phenomenology as a research method. The purpose of this research is to further
look at these beauty vlogger phenomenon in Indonesian by looking at the role of
Abel Cantika as a beauty vlogger in their youtube videos and also the perspective
of her followers based on their own experience. The symbolic interaction and
social construction theory has been used as the basis of this research. / Web 2.0 termasuk di dalamnya berbagai situs jejaring sosial, blog, dan
situs file-sharing turut andil dalam memenuhi kebutuhan manusia dalam
berkomunikasi serta kebebasan dalam memproduksi serta memperoleh informasi..
Blog merupakan sebuah halaman situs yang berfungsi sebagai jurnal
pribadi seseorang yang dapat diakses bebas ke publik. Dikenal dengan bentuk
tulisan, blog kini sudah berkembang yaitu dimana konten tulisan sudah berubah
menjadi bentuk video atau yang dikenal dengan Video Blog (Vlog) dengan
pengguna aktif yang dikenal dengan Vlogger. Vlog juga tersegmentasi terkait
dengan bidang yang diminati oleh pengguna salah satunya beauty vlogger atau
yang terkait dengan dunia kecantikan
Fenomena lahirnya beauty vlogger di Indonesia terlihat mengambil alih
mata masyarakat khususnya wanita dimana keberadaan mereka dianggap berperan
sebagai sumber informasi dan digadang-gadang sebagai sosok yang berpengaruh
(influencer) di masyarakat.
Penelitian ini bersifat kualitatif dan menggunakan metode fenomenologi
dengan tujuan untuk menjelaskan bagaimana peran Abel Cantika sebagai beauty
vlogger dapat dikatakan sebagai influencer yang dilihat dari melalui sosial media
Youtube dan Instagram serta dari pandangan nasyarakat berdasarkan pengalaman
yang dimiliki oleh para pengikut Abel Cantika. Teori interaksi simbolik dan
konstruksi sosial dijadikan sebagai landasan dalam penelitian ini.
