Crime televisions shows are one of the various types of television shows and contain content related to crime, whether it be assault, robbery, or even murder. These television shows are usually made to captivate and intrigue the viewership. Researchers routinely analyze these shows and explore the motives and reasons behind the crimes by utilizing research-based critical discourse analysis theory. The research was conducted with the critical paradigm, qualitative approach, and critical discourse analysis method of Teun A. van Dijk model. The primary data of the study was extracted from documentation on the crime television show "Police Story", which broadcasts on iNewsTV. The secondary data is from verbal interviews with four people involved in the aforementioned television show's production process. The tertiary data was gathered from documents and articles relating to the research topic. The results of the research concludes that television shows based on crime cannot be fully separated from entertainment elements. Despite the contradictions between the concept of entertainment and the violence shown in crime-based television shows, the content is usually processed by the production companies into an entertainment show for their viewers. Based on the results of the study, researchers can answer questions and research objectives with five new concepts. / Tayangan kriminal merupakan salah satu dari berbagai ragam tayangan televisi. Tayangan kriminal yang sejatinya memuat konten terkait penumpasan aksi kejahatan, dalam perkembangannya diolah menjadi tayangan informasi bernuansa drama dengan tujuan untuk memikat penonton. Peneliti berupaya memaparkan secara konkret pengemasan tayangan kriminal sebagai tontonan hiburan, dan lebih jauh menggali alasan atau motif yang melatarbelakangi hal tersebut dengan melakukan penelitian berbasis teori analisis wacana kritis.. Penelitian dilakukan dengan paradigma kritis, pendekatan kualitatif dan metode analisis wacana kritis model Teun A. van Dijk. Data primer penelitian menggunakan dokumentasi tayangan program kriminal “Police Story” iNews TV. Sedangkan data sekundernya adalah data verbal yang didapat dari wawancara dengan empat informan yang terlibat dalam proses produksi. Data sekunder lain yang digunakan adalah dokumen atau artikel pendukung yang berkaitan dengan topik penelitian. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa seperti tayangan program televisi lain, program kriminal “Police Story” di iNews TV tidak dapat dilepaskan dari unsur hiburan. Meski seakan kontradiktif antara konsep hiburan dengan drama kriminalitas yang erat dengan kekerasan, namun justru konten kriminal diolah secara dramatis menjadi tayangan yang menghibur. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian, peneliti dapat menjawab pertanyaan dan tujuan penelitian dengan lima konsep baru.
