Abstract

Social media has ben the source of information for people, especially for Millenial Generation. The goals of this research is to see the social construction of Ahok as a politician. The theory of social construcution of technology is used as an analythical framework. The method used in this research is qualitative method with descriptive approach. Informant selection technique used in this research is purposive in which the informant is chosen based on Millenial Generation group age and Ahok’s supporters. The number of informant in this research are 5 informant through interview. Data analysis uses coding technique and data reduction. From the result of data analysis that has been done, the researcher find out that in externalization stage, there social media contents that spreads as an opinion and participation from the Millenial Generation. In the objectivation stage obtained the results; that the characteristic of social media and conventional media has the similarity and also differences. In the internalization stage obtained the results; those are attitude as Generation Y in political participation in the social media, they have positive attitutes in using the social media, and also take political participation through supporting Ahok. / Media sosial telah menjadi pusat informasi bagi masyarakat, terutama ditujukan bagi Generasi Millenial. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk melihat konstruksi sosial mengenai sosok Ahok sebagai tokoh politik melalui media sosial. Teori konstruksi sosial digunakan sebagai kerangka analisis. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah dengan menggunakan metode kualitatif dengan pendekatan deskriptif. Teknik pemilihan informan dalampenelitian ini adalah secara purposive dimana dipilih dengan berdasarkan pada kelompok usia Generasi Millenial dan simpatisan Ahok. Jumlah Informan dalam penelitian ini adalah sebanyak 5 Informan melalui wawancara. Analisis data yang digunakan dengan teknik coding dan reduksi data. Dari hasil analisis data yang telah dilakukan, peneliti menemukan bahwa dalam tahap eksternalisasi, terdapat terdapat konten-konten media sosial yang beredar sebagai bentuk opini dan partisipasi Generasi Millenial. Dalam tahap objektivasi diperoleh hasil karakteristik media sosial dan media konvensional. Dalam karakteristik media sosial dan media konvensional terdapat persamaan dan perbedaan. Dalam tahap internalisasi, diperoleh hasil sikap Gen Y terhadap partisipasi politik melalui media sosial, sikap mereka positif dalam menggunakan media sosial dan berpartisipasi dalam politik melalui dukungan untuk Ahok.
