When technologies of computer network advance from time to time, sometimes an old computer network need to be upgraded. Yayasan Cinta Anak Bangsa (YCAB) is one of many foundation who need to upgrade their computer network, not only because of the advancement of technology but also because of the physical damage on the network itself and other problems that can’t be handled by the computer network that already exist like the bottleneck problem.YCAB also need to achieved their goal to have a better network performance from the old ones and also to have a network that can handle many user connection not only by wire connection but also wireless connection. To fix the physical damage and bottleneck problem, YCAB upgrade their network hardware which include switch, router, server, and cabling system. From ordinary switch to gigabit switch, from ordinary router to PC router that can be used as proxy server and DHCP server, and new UTP cable that can handled connection up to 1Gbps. With the upgrade, the performance of the new computer network have improved greatly from the old ones. However YCAB not only upgrade their network hardware but also added new device and software. YCAB added wireless router to be used as a wireless access point to support wireless connection to the network and also added the IPCOP software to support PC router as a proxy server.
