Abstract

Digital Signal Processing (DSP) has been widely applied to many areas, for instance instrumentation and control tools, music instruments, medical instrument and other instrument. One of the applications of DSP is a digital audio effect. The construction of a time delay based digital audio effect is one of application example. DSK TMS320C5416 from Texas Instrument is a C54X generation with 16-bit fixed point which can be used to design this application together with some modification suggested by Harvard architecture. The time delay is created by using buffer in the board and by generating an LFO signal, which both are defined in program. The parameter that measured is the time delay of the effect. To implement this time delay based digital audio effect, hardware and software support is needed. DSK TMS320C5416 processes the audio signal and Code Composer Studio (CCS) as an interface that allows user to write a program in C language. The design and analysis of time delay based digital audio effect using DSP TMS320C5416 has successfully manipulated and changed the real sound into a delayed sound with the character of flanger and chorus. To change the function of the effect, switch and LED are used as an interface for the user. Many improvements are needed to be done before it can be implemented for public use such as to improve the interface so that the user can easily use it and creating more sound effects for more variety of sound.
