Abstract

Riset ini bertujuan menyelidiki efek model pembelajaran kooperatif Student Team-Achievement Division (STAD) terhadap prestasi akademik dalam pembelajaran tata bahasa Inggris dan sikap atas pembelajaran bahasa Inggris peserta didik kelas 11 MIPA Gandhi School Jakarta. Sebuah riset experimen melalui pretest dan posttest tata bahasa Inggris dan angket sikap pretest dan posttest dilakukan terhadap 21 peserta didik dalam kelas STAD (experimen) serta 23 peserta didik dalam kelas pembelajaran langsung (kontrol). Data dianalisis dengan statistik deskriptif, uji t sampel berpasangan dan normalized gain. Hasil statistik deskriptif menunjukkan perbaikan dalam prestasi belajar tata bahasa Inggris di kedua kelas, dengan keunggulan di kelas STAD. Uji t sampel berpasangan menunjukkan nilai p 0.013 di kelas experimen dan 0.047 di kelas kontrol, yang membuktikan adanya perbedaan-perbedaan yang signifikan secara statistik antara rata-rata pretest dan posttest tata bahasa Inggris di kedua kelas. Normalized gain adalah 0.14 di kelas experimen dan 0.09 di kelas kontrol, yang merupakan gain rendah. Skor rata-rata respon sikap pretest dan posttest terhadap pembelajaran bahasa Inggris menunjukkan sedikit penurunan dalam kelas experimen dan sedikit peningkatan dalam kelas kontrol namun uji t sampel berpasangan tidak menunjukkan adanya perbedaan-perbedaan yang signifikan secara statistik dengan nilai p 0.334 di kelas experimen dan 0.055 di kelas kontrol. / The research aimed at investigating the effects of the Student TeamAchievement Division (STAD) model of cooperative learning on the English grammar achievement and attitudes toward learning English of Grade 11 science students at Gandhi School Jakarta. An experimental research through grammar pretests and posttests and pretest and posttest attitude questionnaires were conducted on 21 students in the STAD (experimental) class and 23 students in the direct instruction (control) class. The data were analyzed with descriptive statistics, paired-samples t-test and normalized gain. The descriptive statistics showed improvement in the English grammar achievement of both classes, with the experimental class outperforming the control class. The paired-samples t-tests showed p values of 0.013 in the experimental class and 0.047 in the control class, which proved there were statistically significant differences between the means of the English grammar pretests and posttests in both classes. The normalized gains were 0.14 in the experimental class and 0.09 in the control class, which were low gains. The mean scores of the pretest and posttest attitudes toward learning English responses showed minor decrease in the experimental class and minor increase in the control class but the paired-samples t-tests did not show any statistically significant differences with p values of 0.334 in the experimental class and 0.055 in the control class.
