Abstract

Adolescents are people who are going through a period of change from children to adulthood. There are issues felt goning through adolescence period of change, such as weight and physical appearance, these problems can cause irregular diet that can promote another health problems. Therefore, the authors would like to find out what are the factors that influence awareness of healthy diet. The issued factors can be classified as personal, social, and environmental aspects. Personal aspects cover the intention, awareness, and benefits gained from implementing healthy diet. Social aspects cover the contribution of family and friends towards implementing healthy diet. The environmental aspect covers the availability of fruit and soft drinks in the residence and/or campus. The purpose of this study was to determine the level of awareness of Pelita Harapan University students of the importance of proper healthy eating, healthy diet meaning truth, and had already applied in everyday life. A total of 364 questionnaires were distributed to the students of Universitas Pelita Harapan. The research used a descriptive analysis. The data were processed using SPSS. The results found that the students are, in fact, have a high level of awareness of healthy diet. The conclusion of this research is most of the students of Universitas Pelita Harapan formed correct ideas, understand the importance, and have the intention to implement healthy diet, but most lack in discipline to implement healthy diet. The main source of support of the students’ healthy diet is the family (parents and siblings). For the suggestion, residence and campus area should provide more healthy food.
