Abstract
As a very large country, the Central Government in Indonesia is assisted by the Local/Regional Government in running the government. The Head of the Local/Regional Government is one of the most important roles in Local/Regional Government. The mechanism for the Election of the Head of the Regional/Local Government is regulated in the Constitution, namely Article 18 Paragraph 4, which reads, "Elections for Governors, Regents, and Mayors are elected democratically." The process of Electing the Head of the Local/Regional Government is what the Researcher is trying to discuss in this paper. The mechanism for the Local/Regional Head Election in Indonesia is still changing and there is no fixed mechanism that has been set which can be considered as ideal. At the end of December 2019, Minister of Home Affairs, Tito Karnavian announced the Asymmetrical Local/Regional Election as an option as a form of evaluation of the current direct election for the Local/Regional Head elections, researchers examined the Asymmetrical Elections to be applied in Indonesia based on the Perspective of Dignified Justice Theory in order to create a dignified Regional Head Elections and Regional Government. This Asymmetrical Election of the Head of the Local/Regional is not a new thing because it has occurred in Indonesia but is limited to 4 regions, namely: Aceh, DKI Jakarta, DI Yogyakarta and Papua.
