Abstract

Homeroom is sometimes only seen as an additional job to perform administrative tasks. In addition, the difference of homeroom in do their homeroom task could become another problem for a school. In a private school, Sekolah Lentera Harapan Curug, homeroom teacher is the leader who has to disciple the students to the truth which is Jesus Christ . The goals of this research are to analyse how far the understanding of the homeroom teachers about their selves as the shepherd leader, how they apply the principle of shepherding and why they want to do the shepherd activity. The method of this research was the qualitative research method, case study. The research was done in grade 9 SMP Lentera Harapan Curug, Tangerang, Banten. Instruments that were used in this research were interviews, observation, questioners, and some supporting documents. The result of the data was analyzed with narrative-descriptive approach through 4 steps; category collection, direct interpretation, pattern formation, and naturalistic generalization. The research shows that homeroom teachers have a task as the parents for students in their classrooms. Homeroom teachers basically have been doing shepherding in their classrooms, but the concept of shepherd leader has not been understood yet. In the process of shepherding in the classroom, homeroom teachers did a leadership that directing students to Christ, and being a role model for students in living the character of Jesus Christ. Homeroom teachers did all of them because they understood the task and responsibility as Christians which is being a role model in following Christ, The Great Shepherd. / Wali kelas terkadang hanya dilihat sebagai pekerjaan tambahan untuk melakukan tugas administratif. Selain itu perbedaan wali kelas dalam melakukan perwalian menjadi masalah tersendiri di sebuah sekolah. Di dalam Sekolah Swasta Sekolah lentera Harapan Curug, wali kelas adalah seorang pemimpin yang harus menggembalakan anak-anaknya kepada kebenaran yaitu Kristus. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisa apa persepsi seorang wali kelas akan dirinya sebagai seorang pemimpin penggembala, bagaimana menerapkan prinsip penggembalaan serta mengapa melakukan kegiatan penggembalaan. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah metode penelitian kualitatif tepatnya studi kasus, dan diadakan di kelas 9 SMP Lentera Harapan Curug,Tangerang, Banten. Instrumen yang akan digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah wawancara, observasi, angket serta dokumen pendukung. Hasil dari data dianalisis dengan pendekatan naratif, deskriptif yang melalui 4 tahap: pengumpulan kategori, intrepetasi langsung, pembentukan pola, dan generalisasi naturalistik. Penelitian menunjukkan bahwa wali kelas dilihat sebagai tugas untuk menjadi orang tua bagi siswa di kelas mereka, wali kelas pada prinsipnya sudah melakukan penggembalaan. Dalam penggembalaan di kelas, wali kelas melakukan kepemimpinan yang mengarahkan siswa kepada Kristus, dan menjadi teladan hidup bagi siswa dalam menghidupi Karakter Kristus. Wali Kelas mengerjakan hal tersebut karena mereka mengerti bawa mereka harus menjadi teladan hidup bagi siswa dalam mengikuti Kristus, gembala yang agung.
