Background: Learning style is one of the important things that students must have to increase the learning process. learning style is influenced by several factors, one of them is gender. if students do not know their learning styles, they can influence learning outcomes. Objective: to determine differences in learning styles in nursing students at class 2018 based on gender. method: using comparative quantitative methods with cross sectional approach. the population are the nursing class of 2018 students in a private institution in West Indonesia, amounted to 334 students who were taken using accidental sampling techniques with a total sample of 195 students. the instrument used in this study is the VAK (visual, auditory, kinesthetic) questionnaire distributed online. data analyzed using Mann Whitney test. this research was conducted in January-June 2020. Results: obtained more than half (50.8%) of nursing students have a visual learning style. male and female nursing students show the same learning style that is visual. based on the Mann Whitney test, it was found that the value of p=0.249, which means there is no difference in the learning styles of the learning styles of male and female nursing students. recommendation: at the future, hopefully this studies are expected to analyzed other factors that related to nursing students' learning styles.
