Background: Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus (Also known as “Type 2 DM”) is included in the top 10 leading causes of death Indonesia and currently is sitting in sixth rank in the world with the largest number of Type 2 DM at 10.3 million sufferers. This number increases every year and also the incidence of complications increasing because the lack of knowledge about diet management includes the type, amount, and schedule of the food being consumed. Failure of following this diet management will make blood sugar increase and accelerate the complications. Research Objective: The purpose of this research is to identify overview of knowledge Type 2 DM sufferer’s diet management in the community. Research Methodology: This cross-sectional research uses descriptive quantitative method and 84 Subjects chosen using accidental sampling technique with snowball. Univariate analysis used for the statistical test. Result: Research show that as much as 55,95% of respondent had good of knowledge, 22,62% of respondent had sufficient of knowledge, and as much as 21,43% of respondent had bad of knowlege about diet management. Recommendation: For future researchers, it is advicable to look for the attitude and practice of type 2 DM sufferer’s to do diet management using observation research.
