Abstract

Profitability has become an important indicator for the society to evaluatethe performance of a company. To improve the profitability of a company, development of business requires companies to invest in the social environment and gnoring social impacts that arises from business is no longer acceptable, company is expected not only to prioritized on the management and capital owners but also employees, consumer, society and the environment. This research is intended to study the impact of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), Good Corporate Governance (GCG), and financial distress towards profitability ROE) of a company. The study will be conducted on Indonesian property companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange during 2014 throughout 2017. This research is a quantitative descriptive research using secondary data in the form of financial statements. Using the purposive sampling method, out of a total population of 44 companies, 10 companies were selected as sample each year. The analysis model used in this research is the multiple linear regression equation.The results of this research indicate that partially, CSR has positive impact on profitability (ROE). GCG has an positive impact on ROE, and financial distress has negative impact on ROE. Simultaneously, CSR, GCG, and financial distress have impact on the profitability of a company
