Abstract

Almost the entire population of Papua is scattered throughout the territory of Papua therefore there are still many people who have not reached in the health field, this resulted in their understanding is still low about clean life as a habit of washing hands so that the risk of infectious diseases such as diarrhea increases. The purpose of this research is to identify the description of knowledge level of Daboto Papua inland community about hand hygiene practice as the cause of diarrheal disease. The research method used is descriptive quantitative research. The sample in this research is Daboto society with 60 respondents determined by purposive sampling technique with inclusion criteria of Daboto society, able to communicate in Bahasa Indonesia, willing to be respondent, age 12-50 years old. This research was conducted in Daboto from August to October 2017 with a research instrument in the form of a hand-washed and valid knowledge-level questionnaire. The data analysis used is univariate analysis. The result of this research shows that most of the respondents are 37 people (61,7%) have enough knowledge about hand washing, 15 respondents (25%) have less knowledge about handwashing while 8 respondents (13,3%) have a good knowledge of handwashing. Suggestions for further research can examine the factors that can improve knowledge about hand hygiene from being good enough in the interior of Papua / Hampir keseluruhan penduduk Papua tersebar di seluruh wilayah Papua oleh karena itu masih banyak masyarakat yang belum terjangkau dalam bidang kesehatan, hal ini mengakibatkan pemahaman mereka masih rendah tentang hidup bersih seperti kebiasaan mencuci tangan sehingga risiko penyakit infeksi seperti diare meningkat. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah mengidentifikasi gambaran tingkat pengetahuan masyarakat pedalaman Daboto Papua tentang praktik mencuci tangan (hand hygiene) sebagai faktor penyebab penyakit diare. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah penelitian kuantitatif deskriptif. Sampel dalam penelitian ini adalah masyarakat Daboto dengan jumlah 60 responden ditentukan dengan teknik purposive sampling dengan kriteria inklusi masyarakat Daboto, mampu berkomunikasi dalam Bahasa Indonesia, bersedia menjadi responden, umur 12-50 tahun. Penelitian ini dilakukan di Daboto pada bulan Agustus hingga Oktober 2017 dengan instrumen penelitian berupa kuesioner tingkat pengetahuan tentang cuci tangan yang sudah valid dan reliable. Analisa data yang digunakan adalah analisa univariat. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa sebagian besar responden sebanyak 37 orang (61,7%) memiliki pengetahuan yang cukup tentang cuci tangan, responden sebanyak 15 orang (25%) memiliki pengetahuan yang kurang tentang cuci tangan, sementara responden sebanyak 8 orang (13,3%) memiliki pengetahuan yang baik mengenai cuci tangan. Saran untuk penelitian selanjutnya dapat meneliti mengenai faktor-faktor yang dapat meningkatkan pengetahuan tentang hand hygiene dari cukup menjadi baik di Pedalaman Papua.
