Abstract

Postoperative pain is a personal experience and is subjective and the nurse has a role and responsibility in assessing the patient's pain value accurately. Pain is influenced by several factors, but the patient's education factor has not been widely studied. This research is a descriptive correlational research with cross sectional research design. The population is 90 peoples with the samples of 41 people obtained using purposive sampling technique. The result showed 20 respondens (48.8%) in senior high school, 17 respondents (41.5%) in college, 2 respondents (4.9%) in junior high school and 2 respondents (4.9% ) at elementary level. In the first 8 hours post operative, 24 respondents (58.5%) felt mild pain. In 16 hours, 28 respondents (68.3%) also experienced mild pain, as well as 24 hours postoperative most respondents were 26 respondents (63.4%) experienced mild pain. The result of data correlation test using Spearman Rank shows the value of p value = 0,863 (p => 0,005), p = 0,146 (p =>0,005), and p = 0,678 (p =>0,005) for each data.. The lack of respondents with low levels of education has had an effect in this study. The result shows that there is no correlation between education level and pain scale 8 hours, 16 hours and 24 hours post operation at Siloam Sriwijaya Hospital Palembang. it is hoped that the next researcher will be able to identify the factors that may affect postoperative pain and the more samples / Nyeri paska operasi merupakan pengalaman personal dan bersifat subjektif dan perawat memiliki peran dan tanggung jawab dalam mengkaji nilai nyeri yang dirasakan pasien secara tepat dan akurat.
