Abstract

Hand hygiene is an effective way to control, prevent and reduce the risk of infection. Especially for healthcare workers because their have an important role in this transmission, so that good perception is required in applying hand hygiene as a behavior. The purpose of this research is to identify perception of healthcare workers in implementing five moment of hand hygiene at Siloam Hospital Palembang. This research uses descriptive quantitative design. A total 30 respondents obtained by stratified random sampling technique. A descriptive survey using questionnaire from World Health Organizaton (2009). Results (83.3%) of respondents have received formal training on hand hygiene in the last three years and (96.7%) of respondents routinely use alcohol-based handrub. (53%) of respondents considered hand hygiene to be high priority compared to other patient safety goals (IPSG). Techniques in this study using univariate data analysis through descriptive statistics to describe every variable of research that is perception related to hand hygiene action. Situations that require respondents and other healthcare workers in hand hygiene have a balanced percentage of 15 people (50%) think it is good. The author hopes for further research on other healthcare workers / Tindakan mencuci tangan merupakan cara yang dipercaya efektif dalam mengendalikan, mencegah dan mengurangi risiko terjadinya infeksi. Terutama bagi petugas kesehatan karena sangat berperan penting dalam rantai transmisi ini, sehingga diperlukan persepsi yang baik dalam menerapkan tindakan cuci tangan. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengidentifikasi gambaran persepsi petugas kesehatan dalam menerapkan five moment cuci tangan di rumah sakit Siloam Sriwijaya Palembang. Penelitian ini menggunakan desain deskriptif kuantitatif. Teknik pengambilan sampel menggunakan stratification random sampling, didapatkan sampel dengan jumlah 30 orang. Lembar kuesioner menggunakan form dari World Health Organizaton (2009). Hasil (83,3%) responden telah mendapat pelatihan formal mengenai hand hygiene dalam tiga tahun terakhir dan (96,7%) responden secara rutin menggunakan alcohol-based handrub. (53%) responden menganggap hand hygiene menjadi tindakan yang memiliki prioritas tinggi dibandingkan masalah keselamatan pasien (IPSG) lainnya. Situasi yang menuntut responden dan petugas kesehatan lainnya dalam melakukan hand hygiene memiliki persentase dengan proporsi yang seimbang antara persepsi baik dan kurang baik. Teknik dalam penelitian ini menggunakan analisis data univariat melalui statistika deskriptif untuk menggambarkan setiap variabel penelitian yaitu persepsi yang berhubungan dengan tindakan mencuci tangan. Peneliti berharap adanya penelitian selanjutnya pada petugas kesehatan lainnya.
