Abstract

The prevalence of nosocomial infection is still high at 6-16% in hospitalized patients. At Siloam Sriwijaya Hospital Palembang, there is still a nosocomial infection with an incidence rate of about 0.5% in 2015-2016. One of the prevention of non-occurrence of nosocomial infection is by applying hand hygiene. A nurse must have a correct perception of the importance of applying hand hygiene for the recovery of his patients. This study aims to determine the description of the nurse's perception of the application of hand hygiene at Siloam Sriwijaya Hospital Palembang. This research uses descriptive quantitative research design. Sampling using accidental sampling. Large sampling used as many as 49 nurses Siloam Sriwijaya Hospital Palembang on Bougenville and Chrysant pavilion. The instrument used by the researcher is a questionnaire with the number of questions 25 statements. Data analysis using univariate analysis with data presented in table percentage distribution. The results showed that the perception of nurses in applying hand hygiene is still incompetent with a percentage of 51.0%. As a suggestion for nurse inpatient at Siloam Sriwijaya Hospitals Palembang to better understand the importance in applying hand hygiene when giving nursing care or while in patient environment / Prevalensi terjadinya infeksi nosokomial masih cukup tinggi sebesar 6-16% pada pasien rawat inap. Di Rumah Sakit Siloam Sriwijaya Palembang juga masih terjadi infeksi nosokomial dengan angka kejadian sekitar 0,5% pada tahun 2015- 2016. Salah satu pencegahan untuk tidak terjadinya infeksi nosokomial adalah dengan menerapkan hand hygiene. Seorang perawat harus memiliki persepsi yang benar mengenai pentingnya penerapan hand hygiene demi pemulihan pasiennya. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui gambaran persepsi perawat terhadap penerapan hand hygiene di Rumah Sakit Siloam Sriwijaya Palembang. Penelitian ini menggunakan desain penelitian deskriptif kuantitatif. Pengambilan sampel menggunakan accidental sampling. Besar sampling yang digunakan sebanyak 49 perawat Rumah Sakit Siloam Sriwijaya Palembang pada paviliun Bougenville dan Chrysant. Instrumen yang digunakan oleh peneliti yaitu kuesioner dengan jumlah soal 25 pernyataan. Analisa data menggunakan analisa univariat dengan data disajikan dalam bentuk tabel distribusi persentase. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa persepsi perawat dalam menerapkan hand hygiene masih tidak kompeten dengan persentase 51,0%. Sebagai saran untuk perawat ruangan rawat inap di Rumah Sakit Siloam Sriwijaya Palembang untuk lebih memahami pentingnya dalam menerapkan hand hygiene saat memberikan asuhan keperawatan ataupun saat berada di lingkungan pasien.
