Background: Hypertension is a condition when pressure in blood vessels increases (American Heart Association, 2017). The causes of hypertension are divided into two it is factors that cannot be changed and factors that can be changed (Kemenkes, 2013). The prevalence of hypertension in the population aged ≥18 years increased from 25.8% in 2013 to 34.1% in 2018 (Kemenkes RI, 2018). Objective: This study aims to determine the risk factors for elevated blood pressure in students at a Private University in West Indonesia. Method: This research uses a quantitative descriptive method. The research instrument used a questionnaire. Use Simple Random Sampling techniques with univariate data analysis.This research was conducted in April-June 2020. Results: After obtaining the data, the researcher will process the data using univariate data analysis types. The results of this study that there is a risk in physical activity patterns (55,9%), rest patterns (45,8%) and there is no risk in dietary patterns (60,5%) for students at the West Indonesia Private University. Recommendation: For next researchers, they can examine all risk sub-variables to increase blood pressure and be able to measure blood pressure directly.
