Abstract
Profitability has always been a key point to determine a company’s efficiency, while retaining a competitive advantage and facilitating long-term prosperity is also essential for any company. A common factor included by researchers to determine a firm’s profitability is leverage and liquidity. In addition, research on profitability of the food and beverage manufacturing industry appears to be absent, although it is one of Indonesia’s most profitable industry sectors, leaving a research gap to be filled by the writer of this study. This research examines the relationship between leverage, liquidity and profitability of 11 food and beverage industry companies in Indonesia during the years 2013-2017 through a quantitative study method. This study utilizes several data analysis method including descriptive statistics, classical assumption test (normality test, multicollinearity test, autocorrelation test, and heterocesdasticity test), test of hypotheses (t-test, F test and coefficient of determination adjusted R 2), and residual test. The analysis model used in this research is multiple linear regression and moderation linear regression. The statistical analysis demonstrates a significant partial positive impact of debt to equity on return on equity. This is in line with the revised theory of Modigliani and Miller. For liquidity, the analysis also shows that current ratio has a significant partial positive impact on equity Lastly, the result of return on assets show no overall conclusive relationship that can intensifies between leverage, liquidity and profitability could be found
