Background: The student learning world is susceptible to stress and requires coping mechanisms to deal with stress. Coping mechanism has an important role in students' motivation in undergoing their education. An initial survey of 32 students about symptoms and factors causing stress, the results obtained 25% mild stress, 40% moderate and 35% severe. The causes of stress is academic pressure 56% and non-academic 44%. Motivation to learn from themrself 34% and from friends or family 66%, while coping mechanisms owned by students 66% trying to solve problems and 34% focus on problems. Aim: To find out the relationship between coping mechanisms and learning motivation of nursing college students at a Private University in Tangerang. Research Method: This research uses a descriptive correlational method with sample 294 people using purposive sampling technique. The study uses Brief Cope Scale and Motivated Strategies for Learning Questionnaire (MSLQ) as the instruments. Analysis of the data used is univariate and bivariate analysis. Result: The results of data analysis with the Spearman Rank test obtained p value = 0,636> 0,05 indicates that there is no significant relationship between coping mechanisms and learning motivation. Recommendation: The next researcher is expected to develop research related to other factors that can influence learning motivation such as idelas, spiritual physical conditionand social support.
