Background: Cancer is a general term for a large group of diseases characterized by abnormal cell growth. Cancer patients not only deal physical problems related to the disease but also problems related to psychology. So communication between nurses and patients is very important. Aim: to find out the description of the therapeutic communication phases of nurses to cancer patients in Indonesia. Research methods: This literature study uses a simplified approach method. The articles used were taken from Google Schoolar, Researchgate.net and Indonesia One Search databases. Results: There are four themes we obtained namely pre-orientation phase, orientation phase, work phase and termination phase. From the themes, there are each sub theme, namely in each phase there are things that have been done by nurse but there are things still need to be done by nurses. Conclusion: Based on the results, researchers draw conclusions that from the four phases of nurses therapeutic communication in cancer patients some have already been carried out by nurses but some need to be implemented so nurses need to deepen their skills regarding therapeutic communication so it can give a positive influence on patients. Recommendation: Research needs to be done directly to ensure the results of this study because research on nurse therapeutic communication in cancer patients is still lacking.
