Abstract
Li-Fi (Light Fidelity) is a wireless communication technology which uses light as a transmission tool. Li-Fi is a part of VLC (Visible Light Communication) and uses LED (Light Emitting Diode) as a light source. This research’s aim is designing simple Li-Fi communication system. In this research, Li-Fi communication system is designed to transmit data from one computer to another
using one way serial communication. Data transmission uses serial monitor from Arduino module. Byte error rate is measured while varying some variables. Beside byte error rate measurement, LED light intensity is also measured. Analysis to data transmission error are also performed. Byte error rate measurement in dark room shows that the data can be received at α (angle between photoreceiver and direction of light) from 00 to 100 and β (angle between photoreceiver and horizontal axis) from 200 to 400 at α 300. Byte error rate measurements at low speed in bright room show the same result as the
measurements in dark room, while the measurements at high speed in bright room are worse than the measurements in dark room. / Li-Fi (Light Fidelity) adalah teknologi komunikasi nirkabel yang menggunakan
penerangan sebagai alat transmisi data. Li-Fi adalah bagian dari VLC (Visible
Light Communication) dan menggunakan LED (Light Emitting Diode) sebagai
sumber cahaya. Penelitian ini bertujuan merancang sistem komunikasi Li-Fi
sederhana. Sistem komunikasi Li-Fi pada penelitian ini dibuat untuk mengirimkan
data dari satu komputer ke komputer lain dengan komunikasi satu arah secara
serial pada ruangan yang gelap dan terang. Pengiriman data dilakukan
menggunakan serial monitor dari modul Arduino. Pengukuran dilakukan dengan
mengukur byte error rate terhadap beberapa variabel. Selain pengukuran byte
error rate juga dilakukan pengukuran intensitas cahaya LED yang digunakan.
Analisis terhadap kesalahan pengiriman data juga dilakukan. Hasil pengukuran
byte error rate menunjukkan bahwa pada ruangan gelap, data dapat diterima pada
sudut α (sudut antara photoreceiver dan arah datangnya cahaya) dari 00 sampai 100
dan sudut β (sudut kemiringan antara photoreceiver dan sumbu horizontal) dari
200 sampai 400 pada sudut α 300. Hasil pengukuran byte error rate pada ruangan
terang adalah sama dengan hasil pengukuran pada ruangan gelap di kecepatan
rendah, sedangkan di kecepatan tinggi, hasil pengukuran pada ruangan terang
memburuk jika dibandingkan dengan hasil pengukuran pada ruangan gelap.
