Abstract

The purpose of this research is to reveal whether there is any effect between Stereotypes Effects and Succession Planning of Chinese Family Business in Medan and other Chinese Community and researchers to know and get more knowledge about this field. Chinese Stereotypes are considered as a tradition and value that have been passed down through generations in order to maintain the value of how to guide their live and statues in the society not to mention in business which has caused quite a debate about its roles in the family business itself especially about the succession planning with the value that is going to be passed down.This research is using a quantitative as the research design and IBM SPSS Statistics 21 application. Data analysis methods used in this research include descriptive statistics, validity test, reliability test, normality test, coefficient ofcorrelation, coefficient of determination, linear regression analysis and Z Test.The result of the research based on Z test, it can be known that Z Count (4) > Z Table (1.96) which prove there is an influence between Stereotypes Effects and Succession Planning. The result of the research based on coefficient of determination test shows that there is a moderate and positive relationship between Stereotypes Effects and Succession Planning of Chinese Family Business in Medan. As the conclusion, it has been proven that Stereotypes Effects have impact towards Succession Planning of Chinese Family Business in Medan. The most important for the Chinese Family Business in Medan is to cope up with the current values and technology while maintaining the traditionalcodes between family members.
