Background: The earthquake that was experienced by the building occupant in one university in western Indonesia on 23 January 2018 and 2 August 2019 can be risky to inflict damage to the building. The preliminary study was conducted in the form of interviews with 20 students and received 19 students who have not understood about earthquakes and self-protection techniques. Aim: To know the relationship between the students’ knowledge and attitude with the intention of the incident earthquake in one building University in western Indonesia. Methodology: This research is a descriptive quantitative research of correlational with a cross sectional approach. The samples in this study amounted to 314 students, which were obtained by hiring a simple random sampling technique. This research instrument is a questionnaire about knowledge belonging to Dewita in 2011 and a questionnaire about attitudes and intentions belonging to Lubis in 2017. Results: The chi-square analysis shows a meaningful relationship between students’ knowledge and the intention of the incidence of earthquakes (p=0,011) and there is a relationship between students’ attitudes and the intention of the incidence of earthquakes (p=0,028). Recommendation: Building owners can provide self-rescue materials in the event of an earthquake. Besides, educational institutions can involve students to further implement self-awareness in the mitigation of earthquake disasters and further researchers can then analyze factors that affect low knowledge and negative attitudes toward the incidence of earthquakes.
