Kesadaran masyarakat akan pentingnya konsumsi serat untuk kelancaran pencernaan dan defekasi masih dianggap kurang penting, sehingga kejadian konstipasi akibat kurang konsumsi serat masih menjadi masalah. Studi awal dilakukan pada 18 mahasiswa keperawatan di satu Universitas swasta Indonesia bagian Barat didapatkan bahwa delapan mahasiswa (44,4%) mengalami konstipasi walaupun mengonsumsi sayur dan buah, lima (27,8%) orang mengalami konstipasi dan tidak mengonsumsi sayur dan buah, lima (27,8%) orang tidak mengalami konstipasi dan mengonsumsi sayur dan buah. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk menganalisis hubungan konsumsi makanan berserat dengan kejadian konstipasi pada mahasiswa keperawatan di satu Universitas Swasta Indonesia bagian Barat. Metode penelitian ini menggunakan metode kuantitatif deskriptif korelasional dengan pendekatan cross sectional. Jumlah populasi penelitian ini adalah 338 mahasiswa keperawatan angkatan 2019 dan jumlah sampel pada penelitian ini adalah 60 responden. Teknik pengambilan sampel yang digunakan adalah metode Purposive sampling. Cara pengumpulan data menggunakan beberapa metode seperti tools food record 24 hours dimana jumlah serat makanan diukur menggunakan aplikasi komputer Nutrisurvey 2007 dan kuesioner konstipasi. Pengumpulan data penelitian dilakukan selama 7 hari. Hasil data yang didapatkan dianalisis dengan metode analisis bivariat menggunakan uji Chi-square. Hasil uji Chi-square didapatkan nilai p-value 0,201 sehingga menunjukkan bahwa tidak ada hubungan konsumsi makanan berserat dengan kejadian konstipasi pada mahasiswa di satu Universitas Swasta Indonesia bagian barat. Saran peneliti selanjutnya dapat meneliti faktor-faktor lain penyebab kejadian konstipasi / Public awareness of the importance of fiber consumption for smooth digestion and defecation is still considered less important, so the incidence of constipation due to lack of fiber consumption is still a problem. The initial study was conducted on 18 nursing students at one private University of Western Indonesia obtained that eight students (44.4%) constipation despite eating vegetables and fruit, five (27.8%) people experience constipation and do not consume vegetables and fruits, five (27.8%) people do not experience constipation and consume vegetables and fruits. This research method uses descriptive quantitative correlational method with cross sectional approach. The population of this study was 338 nursing students in 2019 and the sample number in this study was 60 respondents. The sampling technique used is Purposive sampling method. How to collect data using several methods such as food record tools 24 hours where the amount of food fiber is measured using the computer application Nutrisurvey 2007 and constipation questionnaire. The data collection of research was conducted for 7 days. The data obtained were analyzed using bivariate analysis method using Chi-square test. Chi-square test results obtained a p-value of 0.201 so it shows that there is no relationship of fibrous food consumption with the incidence of constipation in students at one western Private University of Indonesia. The researchers' advice could further examine other factors that cause constipation.
