With GrabCar and Gojek having disrupted the conventional transportation services industrydue to their convenience and economic benefits, this research has been conducted to observe whether the same thing is happening in the hospitality sector. The main purpose of this research is to examine whether the existence of peer-to-peer accommodations such as Airbnb has affected Medanese people’s preference for staying in hotels when traveling abroad. Prior studies have concluded with various results. While two research teams have found that people still do not have a clear preference and will choose either one depending on the orientation of their travels, a study showed that the population of Surabaya, especially the millenials, has started to prefer using Airbnb. Some scholars even argue that the number of those who prefer P2P to hotels is increasing considerably.The data for this descriptive-causal research has been compiled quantitatively from Medanese millennials through the convenience sampling method using a 12- statement questionnaire. This questionnaire consists of two parts: the first 6 statements are about the drivers of peer-to-peer usage, while the remaining 6 are about the reasons people choose hotels. The result has then been analyzed with the help of SPSS-25 software. The results from the SPSS software showed that Ha is accepted, with a z-test value that is less than the z-table value at a 5% significance level (-4.05 <-1.96). The coefficients of correlation and determination were at -0.484 and 0.234 respectively, indicating that the two variables have an inverse relationship.The findings of this research indicated that although relatively new to Medan’s market, Medanese millennials already have a positive outlook towards P2P accommodations and have even started to choose staying in Airbnb spaces to hotels.
