Abstract
Tradisi Omed-omedan adalah salah salah satu warisan kebudayaan yang hanya dimiliki oleh Banjar Kaja Sesetan, Denpasar, Bali. Tradisi Omed-omedan dilakukan sebagai sarana untuk mempererat tali silaturahmi antar masyarakat Banjar Kaja, Sesetan. Tradisi Omed-omedan wajib dilaksanakan setiap tahun agar tidak terjadi hal-hal yang tidak diinginkan di Banjar Kaja Sesetan. Dalam pelaksanaannya tradisi Omed-omedan melibatkan simbol-simbol yang mampu difasirkan maknanya. Saat ini tradisi Omed-omedan dilakukan oleh anggota Sekaa Truna Truni Setya Dharma Kerti dimana mayoritas anggotanya adalah generasi milenial yang belum menikah. Seiring dengan perkembangan zaman, simbol-simbol yang telah diwariskan mengalami perubahan dari yang seharusnya. Pengemasan tradisi kini telah mengalami modernisasi dengan dilaksanakannya Sesetan Heritage Omed-omedan Festival (SHOOF). Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menjelaskan bagaimana simbol-simbol dalam tradisi memberikan sebuah makna menggunakan teori interaksi simbolik. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode deskriptif kualitatif. Teknik pengambilan data menggunakan wawancara mendalam, observasi dan dokumentasi. Uji keabsahan data dilakukan dengan triangulasi. Hasil dari penelitian ini menujukkan bahwa simbol-simbol yang ada mampu dimaknai secara pribadi maupun kolektif melalui proses interaksi pewarisan budaya secara turun-temurun / Omed-omedan tradition is one of the cultural heritages that is only owned by Banjar Kaja, Sesetan District, Denpasar, Bali. Omed-omedan tradition is preserved by the locals to bond the closeness amongst the residents in Banjar Kaja, Sesetan. It is mandatory to be held annually to prevent unlikely events in Banjar Kaja, Sesetan. In the implementation, Omed-omedan tradition requires meaningful symbols. Nowadays Omed-omedan done by the members of Sekaa Truna Truni Setya Dharma Kerti where majority of them are millennials who are single. Along with the times symbols have shifted from its origin shape. The performance of Omed-omedan has modernized as Sesetan Heritage Omed-omedan Festival (SHOOF) took place recently. The goal of this research is to elaborate how symbols in tradition have hidden meaning according to symbolic interaction theory. Research based on qualitative descriptive method. Data collection technique based on an engaging interview, observation and documentation. Validity test based on triangulation. The outcome of this research indicated that the meaning of symbols may relate to personal experience or as a collective through the heritage interaction cultural process
