Abstract

Many startups and unicorn companies are formed in Indonesia. Those companies offer better compensation and facilities. The companies in Indonesia become increasingly competitive in hiring talented human resources. The purpose of this research is to describe the effect between compensation and employee motivation and to reveal whether it is the factor that causes motivation issue in the company. According to the previous research, compensation effect employee’s motivation. The researcher employed quantitative method, descriptive and causal research design. There are 326 respondents and the research uses simple random sampling method.The results of validity test on both variables are valid as the result is higher than rtable. For the reliability test, the results are reliable as the result is more than 0.6. For normality test, the data are normal because the value was over than 0.05. For the heterocedasticity test, the dots are spread above and under 0 point, so it is free from heterocedasticity. For the determination test, the result is 77.6% which means that variable X has impact on variable Y. The alternative hypothesis was accepted because the result is 33.357 which is higher than the t table which is 1.960. From those results, it can be stated that compensation has an impact towards employee motivation at PT Asia Sakti Wahid Food Manufacturer. For compensation and employee’s motivation, the result of the questionnaire is above average. However, some respondents also answer below average. Thus, it means that some employees do not get a good compensation and are not motivated. So, the recommendation is as compensation has an impact on employee’s motivation, this company should increase compensation in the form of salary and give employees the opportunity to have vacation so that employees are more motivated.
