WHO mencatat bahwa tingginya pemakaian ponsel pintar di seluruh dunia diiringi dengan peningkatan kasus-kasus adiksi terhadap ponsel pintar. Sebuah penelitian yang dilakukan pada salah satu fakultas kedokteran di Indonesia mencatat bahwa 89.8% dari mahasiswanya mengalami adiksi ponsel pintar. Adiksi ponsel pintar sendiri memicu munculnya gangguan muskuloskeletal seperti nyeri leher. Nyeri leher muncul akibat adanya peningkatan aktivitas dan stres pada tulang belakang leher yang timbul saat individu dengan adiksi mempertahankan posisi fleksi leher untuk durasi yang lama. Beberapa penelitian telah menetapkan bahwa terdapat hubungan antara kedua hal tersebut. Walau demikian, masih ada penelitian yang mendapatkan hasil berbeda. Maka dari itu, penelitian dibutuhkan untuk mengetahui apakah terdapat hubungan yang signifikan di antara adiksi ponsel pintar dengan indeks disabilitas nyeri leher pada mahasiswa Fakutas Kedokteran Universitas Pelita Harapan. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode studi potong lintang terhadap 221 mahasiswa Fakultas Kedokteran Universitas Pelita Harapan yang memenuhi kriteria penelitian. Data diolah menggunakan metode analisis statistik chi-square. Penelitian ini menemukan bahwa terdapat 99 responden (44.8%) dengan adiksi ponsel pintar dan 106 responden (48%) dengan disabilitas nyeri leher. Ditemukan adanya hubungan yang signifikan antara adiksi ponsel pintar dengan indeks disabilitas nyeri leher (p-value = <0.001). / According to WHO, the high amount of smartphone usage in the world is accompanied by an increase in smartphone addiction cases. A research in a medical faculty in Indonesia stated that 89.8% of their students have smartphone addiction. Smartphone addiction itself causes musculoskeletal symptoms such as neck pain. This is possible due to the increase of activity and stress in addicted individuals’ cervical spine, which is caused by flexing and maintaining the neck for a long time. A few researches have stated that there is a relation between those two variables. However, there is still a research that found a different result.Therefore, this research is needed to find the significance between smartphone addiction and neck pain disability index in the students from Pelita Harapan University’s Faculty of Medicine. This research was done using cross-sectional method on 221 students from Pelita Harapan University’s Faculty of Medicine who fulfilled the research criteria. The data was then statistically analyzed using chi-square. This research has found that there are 99 respondents (44.8%) with smartphone addiction and 106 respondents (48%) with neck pain disability. A significant relationship between smartphone addiction and neck pain disability index has been found (p-value = <0.001).
