Abstract

Disturbance in communication known as interference, happens because of the usage of the same frequency or adjacent frequencies. The frequency spectrum allocation 4G LTE FDD occupies an adjacent uplink and downlink frequency, thus potentially cause interferences. The amount of interference depends on the power of the interferer. The higher the number of interferers may cause higher outage probability. Therefore, it is important to analyze the impact of increasing the number of interferers to the percentage of outage probability. Three interference scenarios are used in this research. The first scenario is when “Base Station interfere Mobile Station,” the second scenario is when “Mobile Station interfere Base Station,” and the third scenario is when “Mobile Station interfere another Mobile Station.” Propagation model COST-231 and Walfish-Ikegami are used to do the research. The method of determining the outage probability refers to the Signal to Interference Ratio (SIR) and sensitivity. In this research the simulation is done using MATLAB. The result of this research shows that when the number of interferer increases, the interference also increases. The result shows that the largest impact of interference occurs in the “Base Station interfere Mobile Station” scenario when there are five Base Stations interfere a Mobile Station with the distance of transmitter to the receiver within 3 km, the Minimum Distance Separation (MSD) of 1 km, a standard deviation of 8 dB, and the outage probability is 52,81%. Meanwhile, using the power control techniques in the “Base Station interfere Mobile Station” scenario, the outage percentage is under 5%, the worst result is 3,37% when there are three interferers at a distance of 1,5 km, Minimum Distance Separation (MSD) of 1 km, and a standard deviation of 10 dB.
