Background: Every year in Indonesia breast cancer sufferers are estimated to reach 100 new sufferers per 100,000 population. One of the prevention of breast cancer by breast self-examination (BSE), is one effective way as an early detection of breast cancer. Based on the results of interviews about BSE knowledge of 20 female college teacher training students, most of the 9 out of 20 students did not know what BSE was. Research Objectives: The purpose of this study was to determine the level of knowledge of the level one student of teacher education (BSE) at a Western Indonesian Private University. Research methods: This type of research uses quantitative descriptive research. The population is 219, the sampling technique uses simple random sampling with a sample of 141 respondents. The instrument used was a Guttman scale questionnaire with 22 statements. Results: The results of the study of 141 respondents found that the level of knowledge of female teacher training students who had a good category were 72 respondents (51.1%), a sufficient category of 68 respondents (48.2%), and the category of less than 1 respondent (7%). Conclusion: In general, the level of knowledge about BSE results obtained as many as 72 respondents (51.1%), it can be concluded that the first level teacher education students are included in the good category about breast self-examination. Recommendation: For health services, it is necessary to promote health to non medical students about the importance of early detection of breast cancer.
