Abstract

Professional Learning Community (PLC) is a form of collaboration among teachers who have the same vision and mission as learners in supporting learning practices. Leaders play important roles in the process of PLC. PLCs in Kindergarten – Elementary school in SLH Curug are led by a person in charge (PIC) in each grade level. The PIC has important roles in PLC process. This research aims to identify the roles and obstacles faced by the PIC and to know the implementation of PIC characteristics as shepherd leader in PLC. The determination of the resource person is done by purposive sampling. The research subjects were four people that had structured interviews and 17 teachers who gave responses through questionnaires. Data validity testing is done by validation from experts and triangulation of resources. Data analysis is carried out by using qualitative research method to get in-depth description. The result of the analysis shows that PIC experienced obstacles in playing the role as shepherd leader in PLC at Kindergarten – Elementary school in SLH Curug. The PIC role as shepherd leader needs to be defined so it will give clear understanding for the PIC in leading PLC./Professional Learning Community (PLC) merupakan bentuk kolaborasi antar guru dengan kesamaan visi dan misi sebagai pembelajar dalam mendukung praktik pembelajaran. Pemimpin memegang peranan penting di dalam proses berjalannya PLC. PLC di TK-SD SLH Curug dipimpin oleh seorang PIC di tiap jenjang kelas. PIC memegang peranan penting dalam keberlangsungan PLC. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi peran dan hambatan yang dihadapi PIC serta mengetahui implementasi karakteristik PIC sebagai pemimpin gembala dalam PLC. Penentuan narasumber dilakukan dengan purposive sampling. Subjek penelitian adalah empat orang dengan melakukan wawancara terstruktur dan 17 guru dengan memberi tanggapan lewat kuesioner. Adapun pengujian keabsahan data dilakukan dengan validasi dari ahli dan triangulasi sumber. Analisis data dilakukan dengan menggunakan metode penelitian kualitatif untuk mendapatkan deskriptif yang mendalam. Hasil analisis menunjukkan PIC mengalami hambatan dalam menjalankan peran sebagai pemimpin gembala dalam PLC di jenjang TK-SD SLH Curug. Peran PIC sebagai pemimpin yang menggembalakan dalam memimpin PLC perlu didefinisikan sehingga memberi pemahaman yang jelas bagi PIC dalam memimpin PLC.
