Background: Learning style is an individual way to absorb and manage information easily. Nursing students have different learning with other majors especially in the presence of clinical practice. This makes nursing student have difficulty in learning, so they need to know their learning style. Preliminary studies conducted by the authors to ten nursing students class of 2019, all students did not know their learning style. Objectives: to determine the learning style of nursing students in a private educational institution in western Indonesia. Method: used descriptive quantitative method. The population in this study were all the nursing students class of 2019 at a private educational institution in western Indonesia which were 337 persons. The sampling technique used total sampling. The researchers administered VARK questionnaires by Neil Fleming (2018) which consisit of 16 questions about learning styles. This questionnaire has been tested for the validity and reliability to 30 nursing students in the 2018 class. Result r count is 0.366-0.830, and value of Cronbach’s Alpha 0.928. Analysis data used univariate analysis. The result of the research shows that 25,5% of respondents the designated learning style unimodal, 24,3% of respondents indicated learning style bimodal, 23,2% of respondents indicated learning style trimodal and 27% of respondents indicated learning style quadmodal. Recommendation: Further research are expected to analyze the factors that affecting student learning style.
