Abstract

Background: Hypertension or high blood pressure is a disease characterized by increased blood pressure. One of the risk factors of hypertension is gender. Women are more at risk to having hypertension than men caused by the influence of lifestyle. Riskesdas (2013) mentioned the hypertension prevalence on women in Indonesia around 52% and men at 48%. The incidence of hypertension experienced by adult women can be influenced by knowledge, attitudes, and practices are still lacking. The better the knowledge, attitude, and practices about hypertension will encourage someone to behave well in dealing with hypertension experienced. Aim: Analyze the correlation between knowledge, attitude, and practices with hypertension incident on Women Commison at Niha Keriso Protestan Indonesia Church (GNKPI) Gunungsitoli North Sumatera. Research Method: Quantitative research with cross sectional design. The sample of this research is the members of Women Commission at Niha Keriso Protestan Indonesia Church (GNKPI) Gunungsitoli North Sumatera with total amount 55 women. The technique is total sampling with data analyzes using chi-square test. Results: There was no significant correlation between knowledge, attitude, and practices with the incidence of hypertension in Members of the Women's Commission in GNKPI Gunungsitoli, North Sumatra. Recommendation: Counseling and blood pressure checks periodically as a form of preventive measures of hypertension on Members of the Women's Commission and for further research can be done with a number of more samples.
