Abstract
Insomnia and Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD) are common health problems. There is a significant association between insomnia and GERD. Medical students are reported to have high prevalence rate of insomnia due to the academic demands and other several factors, which makes medical students are susceptible to digestive problems such as GERD. Several studies that have been conducted have mostly reported the association of sleep disorders with GERD in adulthood. However, not many studies have specifically reported an association of insomnia with GERD in young adults, particulary in medical students. The aim of this study was to determine the relationship between insomnia and GERD in medical students of Universites Pelita Harapan. This research utilizes cross- sectional method. The results of the research will be processed with Chi-Square analysis using the IBM SPSS version 26.0. program.
From the results of the study it was found that insomnia had no significant effect on the occurrence of Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD).
